I’ve never truly experienced not having enough time.  I’ve always had time, too much time, so much time I’d find my self completely bored.  I’ve never not had the time to go run, workout, or have quality me time!  Everyone should have time for themselves but sometimes there’s just not enough time.

I guess this is what happens when you finally land a real job, or in other words a career.  I now have real responsibilites.  I remember when I thought mowing lawns was a big responsibility.  But despite my new full time job as a teacher and coach, I never thought I’d be this busy.  I always thought people were crazy!  I didn’t care who you were, my belief was you could always find time for a work-out no matter where you were in life.  I’m now learning how stupid I was back then.

I still think getting in your daily stress reliever is important.  Running is my stress reliever and I haven’t had time to stress relieve for three days now.  I am feeling the effects.  I’m more irritable, less patient…. although I never was very patient, stress keeps piling on, and more importantly I feel gross and out of shape.  I’m not happy with it and I’m definitely not used to it.

So how do you adjust to this new demanding life of adulthood… when all your life you’ve been an irresponsible kid?  I’m still working on that.  Right now I’m just trying to manage my time as effectively as possible.  I’ve realized how lazy i was as a college student.  I wasted so much time, time that I definitely wouldn’t mind having now.  These days every minute is planned out, I don’t have time to waste.  I don’t have time to be lazy!

As you get older you receive more responsibilities and less time.  If you want to stay healthy and in shape you’ve got to make time.  Set time aside specifically for your daily run.  Sacrifices must be made.  I know it’s hard to move things around and make space for something tiring. You’re already tired after working non stop all day.  But trust me when I say a daily work out among all the work and stress will do wonders for you, even if its just for fifteen minutes.  I don’t care who you are…. You can find fifteen minutes of down time.  I guess my original belief is still holding strong.  Guess I wasn’t so stupid after all.
